A very nice quality and excellent condition mahogany cased Quarter striking longcase clock by Josiah Lawrence, London, circa 1835.
If you are looking for a longcase clock that little bit more special, unusual and rare then this does stand out amongst the crowd.
The impressive 8 day movement has three trains, chiming on 8 bells with strike/silent and two tunes , Westminster and St Michaels. It is in fully overhauled condition.
Movement, dial, and case all strongly appear contemporary.
It has a one piece convex circular silvered engraved dial. The hands are nicely blued.
The case is in excellent original condition with maintenance repairs carried out by a BAFRA accredited restorer. All joints and parts are sound, the hood fits well, the locks work and all is as it should be.
The trunk door and mouldings are nicely figured . The polish is in fine condition with a great patina.
Please note that the dark line down the left hand side of the base panel is in fact a dark streak in the figure of the wood and not a split or repair.
Overall this is a very handsome, nicely proportioned clock with nothing to detract from its desirability.
The clock can be delivered and set up if within a reasonable distance of Bishop’s Stortford, Herts
For further afield, please check with me, additional costs may apply.
The movement can be offered with a year guarantee in terms of its present overhauled state, but not future wear and tear or user error. Movement must be returned to me for this to apply.
I have/will have two further unusual and equally nice longcase clocks listed for sale.
