I am happy to offer here a great piece of
MANUFACTURER: Unknown – it was purchased in the 1980’s from
a Chinese man who owned a restaurant in Eugene Oregon.
The business was struggling and he needed some cash.
I was in the restaurant and admired some pieces he had on display
at which time he invited me to his house and showed me this;
He said it was from the 1600’s-1700’s and had brought it
to the US to “pay for his son’s education”.
I have not been able to verify the age.
PATTERN: Beautifully flowing shape with Foo Dog handles,
Floral design and butterfly in cobalt underglaze.
Because it was not made for export, it is unmarked.
MEASUREMENTS: just under 13″ tall (approx 32.5 cm),
6 1/2″ (15 cm) diameter across the top and
6 1/8″ (15.3 cm) diameter across the bottom.
CONDITION: excellent antique condition; there is a glaze miss
on the inside lip and the outside rim has an area of minor roughness
where the glaze is flaked off. There are numerous black spots in the glaze
typical of this period. No cracks or repairs. There is a dark line
that looks like it could be a crack but I have examined it carefully and
don’t believe it to be. It does NOT have a dull thud when pinged
Please look at the other items I have for sale – buy 3 items and get free shipping – this is found under my shipping rule. If for some reason it doesn’t automatically convert it for you, please send me an email and I will gladly refund the shipping charges.
Now for the fine print: There is a $1.00 handling fee (even on free shipping);
this is to help with ~ although it doesn’t cover ~ the cost of shipping materials
such as peanuts and bubble wrap which are used for all breakables.
I have shipping all over the world and welcome international buyers. However, please do not ask me to falsify records as it is against the law. Please realize that most antique and vintage items are sold well below their actual value so if you are paying based on the amount paid instead of the value, it is still a great deal.
